Traditional Moose hunting

Traditional Moose hunting

Hunting of Moose, the king of the Forest – the highlight of the hunting season for many.

The moose hunt here in Tornedalen always start at the same time each year, the first Monday in September. It’s a fantastic time of year with colourful splendour in forest trees, high and clear air, a lovely time to be out in forest and land.

Hunting moose is normally conducted here with hunting dog, the dog will track and set the moose with its bark until the shooter has quietly sneaked its way forward to a shooting position. During the rut period, end September to mid-October, the bulls are easier to lure which is also an exciting way to hunt.
